Monday games in the WNBA are somewhat of a delicacy as the league likes to use that day as an off-day for all of its teams. Four teams will see a bit of an interruption to that schedule tonight, though.
Both of these games present an opportunity for bettors to consider a trend and whether they see it continuing Monday night. For bettors on the east coast who want to watch for their wagers, it’s going to be a late one.
How to watch, the lines, and schedule for Monday
All times below are Eastern Daylight Savings. The lines are from Unibet and valid as of 7 a.m. EDT Monday.
- Indiana Fever at Phoenix Mercury (-7.5), 10 p.m., WNBA League Pass (total of 163.5)
- Las Vegas Aces (-6.5) at Los Angeles Sparks, 10:30 p.m., NBA TV (total of 174.5)
There is some injury news to note for the later game which could affect these lines if updates release throughout the day.
Consider the Indiana spread against Phoenix Monday
Phoenix hosts Indiana for the first time this season tonight but this is the second time these teams have seen each other within two weeks. On June 15, the Mercury went got a road cover and win over the Fever 93-80, as they were a 1.5-point underdog. The pre-game total for that contest was 169.
Now that the spread is on the other side and considerably larger, the trends for both teams are worth a look. This is the largest margin by which Phoenix has been a favorite all season, for starters.
The Mercury have been a home favorite four times so far this season and have covered just once. Indiana is quite familiar with being a road underdog, even at 7.5 points or more.
They’ve fared decently in those contests, covering twice in five games when an underdog by that margin on the road so far this season. Both of these teams come in with a similar narrative on the total at 163.5.
In a combined 19 games these teams have taken part in this season for which the pre-game totals were 163.5 or lower, the over has cashed in 11 of them.
Take a look at the under for Las Vegas-Los Angeles tonight
Monday’s contest will be the third meeting of these teams on the season with Los Angeles seeking its first win in the series in 2022. Each team has had a home game but Las Vegas has prevailed in both contests outright and against the spread.
Those spreads sat at 10 points for the Aces’ home game and an identical 6.5 points for the Sparks’ home game. The totals for those games were 171 and 176.5, respectively.
As a road team, Las Vegas has covered in two of three instances in which they were favored by 6.5 points or more. As a home dog by 6.5 points or more, Los Angeles has covered once in two such games.
The Sparks have only taken part in one game in which the total has been 174.5 or higher so far this season. For the Aces, this is the fifth such game. In those five prior contests, the under has cashed three times.
The under might be more worth a look considering Los Angeles’ availability. Jordin Canada, Chennedy Carter, and Chiney Ogwumike are all listed as questionable for the Sparks Monday.
