More than 125 top female golfers tee off on Thursday, Sept. 16 for the Cambia Portland Classic in Portland, Oregon. The Columbia Edgewater Country Club hosts this longest-running non-major LPGA Tour event, which boasts a purse of $1.4 million.
Sportsbooks predict world No. 2 Jin Young Ko will claim her second victory of the year during this week’s competition.
Cambia Portland Classic favorites
26-year-old Jin Young Ko has logged a successful 2021 season, recording six top 10 finishes and claiming the top spot at the Volunteers of America Classic.
DraftKings Sportsbook is confident the Korean will finish in the top 10 yet again, giving her -150 odds of doing as such. Ko also has the best chance of a win, with +700 odds of securing the victory.
No. 9 Canadian Brooke Henderson, who won the tournament back in 2015, currently sits behind Ko in this year’s odds. That is, according to DraftKings at least, who gives her +1100 odds of a win. Other operators – such as BetMGM Sportsbook and Caesars Sportsbook – situate two Thai golfers ahead of Henderson and give her +1200 odds of a No. 1 finish.
Other top tournament contenders
The first of Henderson’s Thai competition is budding up-and-comer Patty Tavatanakit. She celebrated her rookie career in 2020, going on to place in the top 10 in seven events this year and placing first in April’s ANA Inspiration major. Odds of her recording another top 10 finish are +125.
Fellow Thai golfer Ariya Jutanugarn has also claimed seven top 10 finishes this year, taking home the crown at both the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational and Honda LPGA Thailand. DraftKings situates her with a slightly better chance of a top 10 finish than Tavatanakit, with +110 odds.
Other tournament prospects include 22-year-old Nasa Hataoka, who boasts three top 10 finishes this year and won the Marathon LPGA Classic presented by Dana in July. Going into Round 1, she has +300 odds of a top 5 finish and +125 odds of a top 10 finish at DraftKings. Books situate her with anywhere from +1200 to +1400 odds of an overall victory.
Australian pro Hannah Green, who won the tournament in 2019, has +2200 odds of a win this year. DraftKings gives her +450 odds of top 5 finish and +200 odds of a top 10 finish.
