NWSL Saturday Action Brings Three Opportunities For Bettors

Written By Antonio Maza on June 11, 2022

As we approach the international window, bettors have another weekend of NWSL matches to weigh for their bankrolls. Several of the six clubs enter play with some momentum either on the season or in the series against their opponents.

That means bettors have trends to consider as they evaluate the markets. In one of the matches, markets on a shutout might be worth a look, for example.

How to watch, the lines, and schedule for Saturday

All times below are Eastern Daylight Savings and bettors can watch the matches on Paramount+ unless otherwise noted. The lines are from BetMGM.

  • North Carolina Courage (+200) at Washington Spirit (+120), 7 p.m. (Draw +200)
  • Angel City FC (+185) at Racing Louisville FC (+130), 8 p.m., Twitch (Draw +200)
  • NJ/NY Gotham FC (+125) at Kansas City Current (+195), 8:30 p.m. (Draw +195)

Will the Spirit break out of regular-season funk?

In Saturday’s first match, bettors get a replay of the 2022 Challenge Cup final. The last meeting between the Courage and Spirit was in that match in May with North Carolina winning 2-1. In the regular season, Washington is unbeaten in four straight matches in the fixture after losing each of their first eight regular-season matches against the Courage.

Washington has both scored and allowed three goals in its three league home matches so far this season. After winning their season opener against OL Reign, the Spirit are now looking to avoid a three-match home winless streak for the first time since the 2019 season.

The Courage secured their first win of the regular season their last time out. Since joining NWSL in 2017, the Courage have won 18 league matches by three or more goals, which is the most in the league in that span.

Though Washington is winless in its last seven league matches, five of the last six have ended in draws. The Spirit are the first club to play five draws in a six-match span in regular-season play since the Chicago Red Stars did so in April-May 2018.

Can bettors count on one side failing to score in Louisville?

Racing Louisville and Angel City meet for the first time ever today. Louisville has already faced the other expansion side this season, San Diego Wave FC, nabbing a 1-0 win.

Louisville is on a two-match scoreless losing streak for the second time as a club. It’s been nearly a year since they lost consecutive matches without scoring, to their credit.

ACFC has just one win in five matches in all competitions away from home. In total, Angel City has allowed 12 goals and scored just four in its first five away matches (all competitions).

Angel City played the first scoreless draw in the club’s NWSL history on Tuesday against the Houston Dash. There have been plenty of clean sheets in Angel City matches, however, with at least one side failing to find the net in each of the club’s last six matches.

Can Kansas City overcome Gotham’s lucky results?

The series between Kansas City and Gotham FC is even with two 1-1 draws last year. Each side got one home match in that series. All of Gotham’s goals came via an assist whereas neither of Kansas City’s featured the same.

The Current are on a two-match unbeaten run, currently. Kansas City has never gone three straight league matches without a loss and is also looking to score multiple goals in consecutive league matches for the first time.

Gotham FC has three wins in their first five matches of the season despite having a goal differential of zero. It’s the first time Gotham has three wins in its first five matches since doing so in the NWSL’s inaugural season of 2013.
