NWSL Returns With Three Matches This Friday

Written By Antonio Maza on July 1, 2022

After a break due to international matches, the NWSL resumes with three interesting contests, with additions already available for some teams, so let’s begin. Unfortunately for bettors, the action is limited on the night.

The available markets bear some intrigue, however, due to clubs’ recent form and new additions to rosters. Bettors should note that information as they consider their soccer betting options.

How to watch, the lines, and schedule for Friday night

All times below are Eastern Daylight Savings and bettors can view all three matches on Paramount+. Lines are from DraftKings and valid as of 10 a.m. EDT on Friday.

  • Kansas City Current (+340) at Houston Dash (-140), 8:30 p.m. (Draw +310)
  • North Carolina Courage at OL Reign, 10 p.m.
  • Portland Thorns FC at Angel City FC, 10:30 p.m.

As of the time of this article, lines were not available for either of the later matches. A likely reason is clubs’ absences due to upcoming international competitions.

Breaking down Houston-Kansas City

Newcomer Ebony Salmon is available for selection for Houston in this match. In the only regular-season meeting between the clubs this season, Houston scored a 2-0 road win in May but Kansas City did beat the Dash twice in this year’s Challenge Cup. This will be the third time the teams have met in Houston in all competitions with Kansas City having secured a win and a draw in the two previous matches.

Dating back through September of last season, Houston has scored multiple goals in seven matches, all wins, compared to no victories in the other 11 games.

After having just one point through its first five matches, Kansas City has earned eight points over its last four games. It is both the longest unbeaten streak in club history and the most points the club has ever earned over a four-game span.

Kristen Hamilton is up to four goals on the season. Hamilton has the most goals scored this season in NWSL by a player who was not called up by their national team during the current international window.
