2022 Chevron Championship: Odds For The LPGA Tour’s First Major Of The Year

Written By Derek Helling on March 30, 2022

The first major of the year is upon LPGA bettors and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Tour so far this year has minted a different winner in each event, creating a dynamite field of contenders for those sizing up 2022 Chevron Championship futures markets at Canadian and US legal sportsbooks.

Those who want to wait until the action begins to take advantage of some live matchups wagering have options as well. There is some key handicapping information regardless of how you’re looking to bet the event.

2022 Chevron Championship futures odds

Some of the players on the tour have had remarkable seasons thus far. Despite that, we’ve yet to have a player win multiple events so far in 2022. However, counting out players who have already won this year would disqualify some great candidates this week.

Among them are current World No. 1 Jin Young Ko, who won the HSBC Women’s World Championship earlier this month. Ko is having an amazing season. She’s on a roll of 34 consecutive rounds under par, which is an LPGA record.

Ko is also the consensus favorite to win the Chevron Championship for sportsbooks heading into Thursday’s opening round. BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse have her +500 atop their markets, for example.

Sitting behind her at most books is Lydia Ko (+1200 to win at BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, and SugarHouse), who won this event in 2016. Jin Young Ko is also a past winner here, taking the title in 2019.

Altogether, the field of past winners returning to the Mission Hills Country Club is an impressive field on its own. It includes:

  • Mirim Lee (2020)
  • Stacy Lewis (2011)
  • Brittany Lincicome (2009, 2015)
  • Pernilla Lindberg (2018)
  • Inbee Park (2013)
  • So Yeon Ryu (2017)
  • Patty Tavatanakit (2021)
  • Lexi Thompson (2014)

They fall in disparate places in sportsbooks’ winner futures. For example, Lincicome is +20000 to win this event a third time at DraftKings. Meanwhile, Thompson is +1400 at the same book. Several books have other futures bets available.

DraftKings, Caesars, and FanDuel also offer top five and top 10 finish futures along with futures on the first-round leader. BetRivers, Caesars, and SugarHouse also offer a futures market for the margin of victory.

Also at BetRivers and SugarHouse, bettors can wager on which players will win their respective groups. That plays into matchups wagering, which will be available even after the action starts Thursday morning.

Schedule and matchups betting for the 2022 Chevron Championship

Bettors can watch the action from Rancho Mirage on the Golf Channel this week. Broadcast times are as follows, with all times Eastern Daylight Savings:

  • Thursday, March 31: noon – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Friday, April 1: noon – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 2: 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 3: 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

A popular way to bet on the tournament live is with matchups. BetRivers and SugarHouse already have some of these markets live for the first round. For instance, Jin Young Ko is -167 to finish the round ahead of Thompson.

On Sunday, the LPGA Tour will crown its first major champion of 2022. If previous results are any indication, it could be a player who has yet to win this year.
